The Journey Club®—our uniquely inclusive program—draws from our knowledge that our residents today are as different in their interests and hobbies as any generation ever was. They understand the need to stay physically and mentally active—and The Journey Club is all that and so much more.
Through The Journey Club there are endless opportunities to be as busy as you wish. There is time for yourself and time to be engaged in whatever interests you the most. Whether socializing with other residents, taking a stroll along the banks of the harbor, enjoying a performance or dining with friends, being active is the best path to happiness, health and wellness. Whether you seek to nurture your mind, body or soul you will find it here at The River’s Edge Assisted Living.
Below is just a small sample of what we offer through The Journey Club:
- Trips to local attractions such as Foxwoods and the local museums
- Gardening in our courtyard cutting and herb gardens, and hydroponic gardens
- Baking to make remembered recipes for all to share
- Games for all: Bingo, cards, Mah Jong and more!
- Musical entertainment from local entertainers
- Clubs for specific interests such as knitting, travel, chorus, etc.
And, as we get to know you we will design and develop events around your interests. It’s a great way to introduce other residents to something new that you are passionate about.
The Brain Games
As part of The Journey Club, we have partnered with a nationally recognized leader in cognitive enhancement programs to create the Brain Games Program. The Brain Games Program is housed in our media lounge, and offers a full array of mentally challenging offerings. Our program is free of charge to our residents, and is always changing and improving as research provides knowledge of what helps slow down losses associated with the aging mind. These programs, mainly done on our state of the art touch screen computers, are tailored for the different abilities of our residents and will be hosted by our staff in both group and semi-private sessions. In addition, these fun and proven mental gymnastic programs will often be extended to seniors in the greater community as part of our commitment to be a good neighbor.
